Geneva, Switzerland

When we mention Switzerland the first thing that comes to mind is CHOCOLATES.  But there is more to this country than just chocolates.  From the Alps to Lake Geneva to Zurich, and there are a number of other places one can visit in this breathtaking country.

In my opinion, one should visit this place at least once in their lifetime, it really is picturesque with breathtaking views everywhere you look.  But before visiting one should first learn some facts about the country.  In case you are planning to visit Switzerland this year or sometime in the future, here are some interesting Switzerland facts and information that are sure to help you learn more about this country.

Geneva serves as the European headquarters of many international organizations.  The natural beauty of the country, combined with its architectural and historical legacy, attracts large number of tourists every year.  Geneva is located in the westernmost corner of Switzerland, on the banks of Lake Geneva and is the second most populous city in Switzerland, next to ZurichGeneva is the most international city in Europe, with over 40 percent of its residents coming from outside SwitzerlandGeneva became home European Headquarters of the United Nations, in 1946.

Getting around Geneva is simple and it has the shortest commuting time of any major city in the world.  Even I did not get lost and that is saying a lot, considering I get lost in my own neighborhood.  I stayed in Geneva for two nights, just for a transit between Paris and Munich, but definitely see Switzerland whether a transit or longer stay, and pickup some chocolates and Swiss watches, they are countless everywhere.
